Jonathan believes that in Western society advertising is a total necessity – if people weren’t working for companies that were selling luxuries they wouldn’t be able to buy food. Still, there’s no reason why this should mean the world should be littered with sleazy sales pitches, meaningless buzz phrases (like ’21st Century Promotional Solutions’) and cheap, unimaginative design.

Exotic Matter 21st Century Promotional Solutions aims to showcase not only our own insanely good design and advertising work, but also the work of others across the world who we believe share our vision of the way that advertising should be. It also showcases a fair amount of insane ads, mental ads, wrong ads, irritating ads and just plain stupid ads in the Exotic World section. We’ve also started interviewing people connected with the advertising and design industry as well.

Exotic Matter’s aim is to study the effects of advertising on the mentality and aesthetics of Western society from the perspective of people within the sphere of advertising and the creative industries. The website is is liberal in its outlook and recognises the power of advertising as well as its responsibilities while embracing its positive aspects and creative merit.
